Egg Carton Tulips

Published by Kit S

Help to usher in an early spring with this sweet and easy flower craft.

You will need:

  • 1-2 styrofoam egg cartons (1 doz. style)
  • 12-24 very fuzzy, long, green pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Jar or cup for flower vase
  • Construction paper leaf blades (optional)

Instructions:

  • Cut away the flat portions of the egg carton. Then cut the carton into 12 sections so that you have 12 mini cups.
  • Take each mini cup and cut out triangles all around the edge of each cup. Be careful not to cut too far down inside the lip of the cup.
  • Take a long pipe cleaner and fold it in half but not in a sharp point.
  • Separate the ends a bit and center up the cut ends of the pipe cleaner on the inside of the cup. You will be making two holes in the center of the cup. Make sure to leave adequate space between the holes. If the holes are too close together, the flower will tear easily.
  • Gently push each end into it’s own hole and push the pipe cleaner down until the half mark bend touches the egg carton cup.
  • Gently twist the two pieces of pipe cleaner together beneath the cup. You may add construction paper leaves between the twists if you’d like.
  • Repeat process for a nice bouquet.
  • Add all flowers to a jar or cup for a nice display for a child’s room.
